Caliach Vision V3.10 INSTALL.TXT Date: 14th June 2008 This document describes the installation of Caliach Vision under Windows 2000+, XP and Vista, Mac OS 10.5, and Linux. Contents:- 1. Installing Caliach Vision ============================ Only install Caliach Vision after sucessfully installing Omnis Studio V4.3.1. 1.1 Installing Caliach Vision under Windows 2000+, XP and Vista --------------------------------------------------------------- Launch the VisionSetup.exe program by double-clicking on it, then follow the instructions provided on-screen. 1.2 Installing Caliach Vision for Macintosh System 10 ----------------------------------------------------- Launch the InstallCaliachVision program by double-clicking on it, then follow the instructions provided on-screen. 1.3 Installing Caliach Vision for Linux --------------------------------------- There are to .tar.gz compressed files. This has changed from previous versions. Demonstration ------------- Step 1: visiondemo310.tar.gz will extract to a pre-licensed demonstration set of Caliach Vision including the Omnis Runtime and Caliach Vision Help. You should first create a directory /usr/local/caliach/ and move visiondemo310.tar.gz into it. Then "Extract Here" under KDE. You will then have the instalation in /usr/local/caliach/visiondemo300. Step2: After installation you should set appropriate privileges for the files. You can do this in a Terminal window using the following command: chmod 777 -R /usr/local/caliach This will give all users read, write and execute privileges. Step 3: For convenience copy the /usr/local/caliach/visiondemo310/Caliach Vision Demo 310.desktop file onto your desktop from which you can launch the program. Alternatively, to create a desktop icon to run the application (in KDE), right-click on your desktop and select Create New and Link to Application. Give it a Name and under the Execute tab, a command of: /usr/local/caliach/visiondemo310/Omnis/omnisI386 /usr/local/caliach/visiondemo310/Vision.lbs Full Vision ------------ Step 1: Omnis Studio should already be installed. vision310.tar.gz will extract an unlicensed full set of Caliach Vision. You should first create a directory /usr/local/caliach/ and move vision310.tar.gz into it. Then "Extract Here" under KDE. You will then have the instalation in /usr/local/caliach/vision310. Step 2: After installation you should set appropriate privileges for the files. Step 3: You now need to copy 4 files into the Omnis installation as follows: /usr/local/caliach/vision310/ToMoveElsewhere/Omnis_icons/newicons.df1 into /usr/local/tigerlogic/os431rt/icons/newicons.df1 /usr/local/caliach/vision310/ToMoveElsewhere/Omnis_startup/adhoc.lbs into /usr/local/tigerlogic/os431rt/startup/adhoc.lbs /usr/local/caliach/vision310/ToMoveElsewhere/Omnis_xcomp/calendar.so into /usr/local/tigerlogic/os431rt/xcomp/calendar.so /usr/local/caliach/vision310/ToMoveElsewhere/Omnis_xcomp/pdfdevice.so into /usr/local/tigerlogic/os431rt/xcomp/pdfdevice.so You need to do this for all Omnis installations if you have more than one. Step 4: For convenience copy the /usr/local/caliach/vision310/Caliach Vision 310.desktop file onto your desktop from which you can launch the program. Alternatively, to create a desktop icon to run the application (in KDE), right-click on your desktop and select Create New and Link to Application. Give it a Name and under the Execute tab, a command of: /usr/local/tigerlogic/os431rt/omnisI386 /usr/local/caliach/vision310/Vision.lbs Note: The first path for omnis may vary with the version (431) and whether you have installed the Design (os431) or Runtime (os431rt). 2.
